آهنگ “ceilings” هشتمین قطعه از دومین آلبوم Lizzy McAlpine به نام five seconds flat است. این قطعه پیش از انتشار آلبوم، در جریان تور او به همراه موزیسین انگلیسی dodie که لیزی در آن به عنوان خواننده افتتاحیه اجرا داشت، اجرا شد. از نظر ترانه‌سرایی، این آهنگ نشان می‌دهد که این خواننده و ترانه‌سرا در پایان یک قرار ملاقات در حال خیال‌پردازی درباره فردی است. مک‌آلپاین در مصاحبه‌ای با مجله People فاش کرد که “ceilings” یک یادآوری نوستالژیک از یک رابطه گذشته است.
